Patient Information Centre (PIC)

Patient Information Centre

Need more information about your health or medical condition? The PIC is here to help.

We are the first thing you see as you enter the Medical Centre. PIC was set up in 2001 to provide health information for patients of the Medical Centre to help them make informed decisions on their own health care.

The information provided comes from recognised charities, councils and other NHS approved organisations. We offer information on many medical conditions, advice on healthy lifestyle choices and a list of local support, community and exercise groups.

Despite our wonderful space in the Medical Centre reception we don’t have enough room to display all the information we hold! To overcome this, we run a ‘focus’ that changes every two months.

The Lions’ Message in a Bottle is available from PIC. This is a simple idea to encourage people to keep their basic personal and medical details where they can easily be found in an emergency. The bottle contains a form for you to fill in giving details such as any medical conditions, allergies and your emergency contact information.

This information is kept in the bottle. The bottle is kept in the fridge, where the emergency services can find it if called to your home. They will know you have a bottle by two labels (supplied in the bottle): One fixed inside your front door, the other on your fridge.

If you can’t see the information you need on display, please ask our volunteers. PIC is available to patients whenever the Medical Centre is open and is staffed Mon-Fri 9.30am-11.30am. All enquiries are dealt with in the strictest confidence.
