Flu Vaccination by invitation only
Flu is a very contagious infection which can cause serious illness and fatality among older patients and those of any age with particular medical conditions or taking certain drugs including methotrexate.
This year, delivering the flu immunisation programme will be more challenging than ever because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have therefore significantly changed the format of our flu clinics to take into account of social distancing to protect patients and staff from COVID-19.
Booking your flu jab
Flu vaccinations will be on an appointment only basis at Witterings Medical Centre from late September onwards. We will initially be vaccinating patients aged over 65 and those in the ‘at risk’ categories (such as patients suffering from diabetes or asthma). The new cohort of patients aged 50-64, who are not in an at risk group, will be vaccinated later in 2020 when NHS England have confirmed additional supply.
Please book your appointment with our reception staff after 11am. This will ensure that patients can get through for Doctors Triage appointment. Please note our telephone lines are closed between 12:30 and 13:30 daily.
Booking slots will be available from Tuesday 8th September 2020.
On the day of your flu jab
For those patients attending the surgery, please remain outside until the time of your appointment. Please do not arrive before your scheduled appointment – we will not have any waiting room capacity for patients to sit and wait. Regrettably we will not be able to offer any other services on these days e.g. appointment booking or medication collection.
Please remember that all patients should wear a face covering and suitable clothing so that the top of your upper arm can be easily exposed.
Please also come on your own wherever possible, friends and relatives will be asked to wait outside of the surgery unless they are required to provide assistance.
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.
