Family Planning

Contraceptive pill

If you wish to have a repeat prescription for the contraceptive pill you do not need a doctors appointment for this.

You can book a treatment room appointment with our practice nurse up to 4-6 weeks in advance. It is important that people who are taking the pill have regular blood pressure checks.

If however you have never taken the contraceptive pill before, or wish to change your pill for whatever reason you will need a doctors appointment or an appointment with a Nurse Practitioner.

Dr Michele Lacey specialises in all  aspects of ‘family planning’.

If you wish to discuss starting a family, or different methods of contraception, such as the IUC (coil) or a contraceptive implant, it is recommended that you book an appointment with them.

You can discuss different contraception methods in a routine appointment with either of them; however any procedure that you may need especially the insertion of an IUC, will need to be booked into Dr Lacey’s family planning clinic on a Tuesday afternoon. Debbie can be a bit more flexible and can fit implants on most days, but she also has family planning sessions on a Thursday.
