Diabetes was once quite a rare condition in the UK, however, due to the increase in fast food consumption, lack of exercise and people’s general lifestyle the last few years have shown a steady rise in diagnosed cases.

TYPE 1 Diabetes

Usually diagnosed at a very young age. Patients will need insulin injections.

Symptoms to look out for:-

  • Increased thirst
  • Loss of weight
  • Frequent visits to pass urine
  • Increased tiredness

Type 2 Diabetes

More common than type 1 usually patients are older when diagnosed. However, it is sadly becoming more prevalent in young people.

  • Are the same as type 1 but tend to be less severe.
  • Some patients will have no symptoms and are only diagnosed through having routine blood tests.

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, please do not hesitate to make an appointment with one of the doctors at the surgery.
